Beside securing the electricity supply in the Zeeland region, it will also be used to transport the electricity generated by the planned offshore wind farms off the coast of Walcheren. The planning for the construction of the high voltage connection is still unsure as the Dutch TSO is looking for a new contractor to install the Wintrack-masts for Zuid-West 380 kV West.
The information centre is located in the centre of the project area, in the former train station of Kruiningen. It offers both views on the existing electricity connection as on the site where the future connection will rise. Via VR glasses visitors get a visual representation of the future connection, from the wind farm to the end use at household level. The information centre is officially opened on 29 November and will be open for the public three afternoons a week.
