The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) awarded a consortium of Pondera Consult, Whiffle, Oldbaum Services and Deltares the contract to conduct a Wind Resource Assessment for the 700 MW offshore wind site Hollandse Kust (noord).
The assessment entails a desk study on the wind climate in the site, located around 18,5 km off the coast, with the ultimate goal to reduce possible uncertainties in the project and avoid unnecessary costs at a later stage in the project.
By collecting and combining data from met masts and LiDARs and existing data from KNMI/Rijkswaterstaat moitoring systems, the different wind conditions at the site can be determined and verified. The data will be used as input for developers to plan the layout of the wind farm and/or calculate the potential future energy production. Once operational, Hollandse Kust (noord) could provide electricity to around a million of households. Photo Pondera Consult
