Enexis Netbeheer will add 5000 MW of wind and solar to the grid

Dutch Distribution System Operator (DSO) Enexis Netbeheer is expecting to double the capacity of grid connections for wind and solar in the coming years.

Currently the DSO has around 2,649 MW connected to its grid. Calculations made by the company show another 5,000 MW will likely be added over the next years.

The number of both private and business connections have rapidly grown over the last years; from some 1,800 to over 4,600 business connections and from over 122,000 to 342,000 private conenctions. Up to 2021, 2,200 MW of solar and wind, the equivalent of the annual energy consumption of almost a million households, will be added, to be followed by another 3,300 in the years after. By investing an expected additional 250 million euro in adjusting and enlarging its network, Enexis Netbeheer will realise a transport capacity for some1,300 MW solar and 800 MW wind energy. The DSO is also urging for new, innovative solutions and control from regional governments through the RES (Regional Energy Strategies). Source: Enexis
