On 8 July, a start was made on the installation of the first wind turbine at the De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer Wind Farm. This took place along the Drentse Mondenweg at 1e Exloermond. Providing the weather remains favourable, the installation could be completed by the end of this week.
Start of construction commenced after the arrival of the first tower section the night before. The tower comprises 6 sections that will be lifted and installed by crane. The tower section has a diameter of 5 m. The thickness of the tapering sections varies from 5.4 cm at the bottom to 1.3 cm at the top. The tower components are manufactured in Germany and transported by road overnight. The remaining tower sections arrive today and tomorrow. Once the wind turbine is installed, a start can be made on the electrical wiring. The developer expects to start with testing of operation by mid August. In total, 45 3 MW Nordex N131 wind turbines will rise at wwwthe wind farm.
