Tower Haliade-X 12MW rises at Maasvlakte

This week, 3 of the 4 tower sections that will carry GE Renewable Energy’s Haliade-X 12MW wind turbine prototype, were installed at on Sif Group’s site at Maasvlakte, in the port of Rotterdam.

The tower sections were produced by GRI in Seville, Spain. A fourth tower section will be mounted on the existing tower once the nacelle has arrived this summer. The nacelle is manufactured by GE in Saint-Nazaire and the blades by LM Wind Power in Cherbourg, France.

As reported previously, the nacelle and 107m-long blade will undergo advanced testing at ORE Catapult in Blyth, in the UK.

Data will be collected during the initial period of operations of the prototype to obtain type certification in 2020, followed by serial production in 2021.
