Last week Van Oord has started to install the first jackets (of the in total 102) at the East Anglia ONE wind farm.
The wind farm’s jackets will be installed at depths of down to 55 metres in the southern North Sea, located 45 kilometres southeast of Lowestoft, UK.
ScottishPower Renewables commissioned Van Oord to function as the contractor for this project, responsible for transport and installation of the offshore wind turbine foundations, including logistics and deployment of the equipment. Currently 12 jackets have already been successfully installed on the pre-installed piles.
East Anglia ONE will have the largest number of three-legged foundations ever installed in a wind farm. Heavy lift vessel Aegir started its assignment to place jackets from the transport barges on to the pre-installed piles last week. It is anticipated to perform a number of distinct campaigns over the late summer and autumn of 2018.
With a total of 102 Siemens 7 MW wind turbines East Anglia ONE wind farm will ultimately deliver a total of 714 MW. Once the wind farm becomes operational in 2020, it will supply green energy to 500,000 households.
