Vattenfall to invest € 64 million in 2 onshore wind farms

Vattenfall anounced on Friday it is investing a total of € 64 million in two Dutch onshore wind farms. It concerns Windpark Haringvliet and Windpark Moerdijk.

Windpark Haringvliet
The wind farm will have 6 turbines from Nordex installed in the north of the island Goeree-Overflakkee, between the towns of Middelharnis and Stad aan het Haringvliet. The total power is expected to be around 22 MW, enough to provide around 22,000 households in their energy needs. Construction is planned for early 2019. BAM Infra is selected as contractor to perform the civil works. The wind farm is part of the 50 Has energy parc Park Haringvliet Zuid which will also see a solar park and possible energy storage system built there.

Windpark Moerdijk
This wind farm, to be built in the port and industrial estate of Moerdijk also received the go-ahead. Nordex will provide 13 turbines. The total height of wind turbines can be no heigher than 150 metres. The total power will be around 27 MW, enough to power some 27,000 households. Construction is to start in the spring of 2019. No contractor has yet been selected. The wind farm is a project by the municipality and the association ‘Stichting Energie Transitie Moerdijk’ and is co-financed and supported by Vattenfall.
